Drafted 6th overall in the 1978 NBA draft, Bird stayed in school that year and only signed with the Celtics after losing the National Championship game. The rules were changed and he became the last player to do that. He also became the richest rookie in any sport up to that point. Known as "Larry Legend" Bird led the Celtics great teams of the 1980's.
